Who we are

FireClarity is a free financial independence planning tool available at https://fireclarity.com. It is operated as an educational service and is not a regulated financial institution.

Data controller: FireClarity — contact us here.

What data we collect

We collect minimal data and never sell it to third parties.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

If you accept cookies, we load Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymised usage data, including:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Approximate geographic location (country/region level only)
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Referring website (how you found us)

IP anonymisation is enabled. We do not collect or store your full IP address. This data is processed by Google LLC under their Privacy Policy. You can opt out at any time using Google's opt-out tool or by declining cookies on this site.

Calculator inputs

All calculator inputs (age, portfolio value, expenses, etc.) are processed entirely in your browser. This data is never transmitted to our servers. We do not see, store, or have access to the numbers you enter.

Scenarios (app users)

If you use the app and save scenarios, your scenario data is stored in our database and associated with your account. This data is used solely to provide the service to you and is not shared with third parties.

Cookies

We use a single category of cookies:

  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics if you accept. These help us understand how the site is used in aggregate.

We do not use advertising, tracking, or social media cookies. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.

Legal basis (GDPR)

We process analytics data on the basis of your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time by declining cookies or clearing your browser storage. The calculator itself processes no personal data — there is no legal basis requirement for in-browser computation.

Data retention

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default, after which it is automatically deleted from Google's servers. Saved scenarios are retained until you delete them or close your account.

Your rights

Under GDPR and the Swiss nFADP, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data
  • Withdraw consent — change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer
  • Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests

To exercise any of these rights, use our contact form. We will respond within 30 days.

Since the calculators store nothing server-side, the only personal data we could hold is your account and saved scenarios (if you registered).

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority. In Switzerland, this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). EU residents may contact their national data protection authority.

Third-party links

This site may link to external services (brokers, financial platforms). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated date.
